Renewable energy hub - Qld's first renewable energy display centre
Accredited Master Electricians Horan and Bird have opened North Queensland's first renewable energy display centre.
The $1.2 million centre, where an opening ceremony will be held tomorrow, doubles as the company's new headquarters and as a display complex where the equipment of solar manufacturers is being showcased and compared for performance and cost.
Horan and Bird director John Horan said the company prided itself on being at the forefront of solar technology and had planned the centre around its need for larger premises.
He said not all solar panels and inverters were the same and many struggled in the hot humid conditions of North Queensland.
"We have been supported by six different companies to show the difference between the performance of thin-film solar panels, mono-crystalline solar panels and poly-crystalline solar panels," he said.
