ECA named one of Brisbane's top innovators
The 2011 Brisbane Innovation Scorecard reveals Brisbane’s leading innovators.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk officially launched this year’s Brisbane Innovation Scorecard, naming the Electrical and Communications Association as a leader in innovation.
ECA was recognised for its multi-pronged, innovative approach to meeting identified gaps in training, accreditation, safety and advocacy.
The programs which were highlighted specifically were:
- SkillsConnect – offering accredited training programs
- SafetyConnect – off-the-shelf, scalable service for contractors
- Master Electricians Australia – national accreditation system for contractors
- Energy Management Institute – accrediting training courses for electricians.
The Innovation Scorecard measured innovation activity reported by Brisbane businesses between January 2008 and January 2011. It is the first city-based innovation survey of its kind in Australia and formally measures Brisbane’s commercial innovation footprint.
Other leading innovators in this year’s Scorecard included:
- Mining company, Rio Tinto
- Robotic airborne intelligence experts, V-TOL Aerospace
- Public policy think tank, Eidos Institute
- Brisbane restaurant, Restaurant Two
- Housing developers, Aspect Property Group.
