The cream of the crop of South Australia’s electro-technology industry has been acknowledged for their invaluable contributions to the sector at the Master Electricians Australia State Excellence Awards.

Master Electricians Australia handed out a total of six awards to businesses and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement within the electro-technology sector over the past year. Among those honoured on the morning were six special sparkies who’s contributions to the industry were recognised through an array of awards, covering categories from energy efficiency, through to awards for Legrand Apprentice of the Year and commercial project of the year.

Queenstown, electrical contractor Troy Smith of Electric Results was named/awarded the coveted Master Electrician of the Year award for South Australia, for his contributions as head contractor of all trades in the complete redevelopment of a hospital cardiac ward, 6B.

Judges noted that the job required an in depth understanding of AS/NZS3003 requirements and strict testing procedures. Electric Results delivered the project on budget and ahead of schedule, gaining a “Gold rating” of 97 per cent in the safety audit performed by the Facility Manager.

Other award winners included Ryan Wood and Kye Mickan, of Electric Air Solutions, Somerton Park, who took out Legrand Apprentice of the Year and Thebarton’s Sue Lock of Sharp Electrical who was awarded 2017 SA Women in Contracting for her role as a major driver within the business, proving herself an obvious asset to the future of the Sharp Group’s success.

MEA CEO Malcolm Richards said that he was very proud of the hard work and drive expended by award winners and the SA electro-technological industry as a whole over the past twelve months. “It’s incredibly encouraging to see the high level of commitment that SA sparkies have to improving the sector within their state,” Mr Richards said.
