SafetyConnect Australia set to release Version 5 of its Safety Management Manual
SafetyConnect Australia is pleased to announce a new manual which is compliant with AS/NSZ 4801 – ISO 18001 will be released later this month.
The release of the new Safety Management Manual was originally delayed so it could be aligned with the requirements of the Work Health & Safety Act, however, with many states delaying the adoption of the relevant regulations and a number of States putting off ratification of the Act until they receive further clarification from the Federal Government, SafetyConnect has decided to upgrade the Manual to achieve compliance with AS/NZS 4801 - ISO 18001.
Many builders, along with local, state and federal governments now require either certification or at least compliance with these standards and this upgrade will provide SafetyConnect members with the necessary tools to achieve compliance with, and where necessary, provide a basis for accreditation to these standards.
The overall aim of these standards is to support the achievement of the highest levels of occupational health and safety performance. They are intended to provide organisations with the elements of an effective OH&S Management System which can be integrated with other management requirements of the business such as Quality Assurance AS9001, and Environmental Sustainability AS 14001.
This will assist businesses with the achievement of other social and economic goals.
By upgrading to AS/NZS4801 – ISO18001, SafetyConnect has set a platform which will facilitate the inclusion of the various harmonisation requirements as they are adopted by the various state governments.
During 2012, SafetyConnect Australia plans to provide regular notice to its members and upgrade the manual as required by the harmonisation program.
