Floods and fault finding

Master Electricians Australia RSS Feed

Severe weather causes an array of potential dangers for the general public and tradespeople alike.

Floodwater can create hidden electrical hazards by contaminating infrastructure and appliances with sediments and toxins.

When homes or businesses have been inundated with water, the following questions are often asked:
  • Can I use appliances after they dry out?
  • Are circuit breakers and fuses safe to use?
  • Will I need to replace my electrical wiring?
To answer these questions residents and business owners are encouraged to have electrical wiring, appliances and switchboards inspected by an electrical contractor.

Particularly during storm season electrical contractors should ensure their fault finding skills are up date.
