Government grants and incentives

Depending on your individual criteria, location and eligibility, you could be entitled to a range of grants or subsidies.

Incentives currently available to Queensland employers of apprentices include:

  • Australian Apprentice Wage Subsidy: Up to $37,000 for rural and regional employers
  • Youth Boost: Payment of $20,000 for eligible employers
  • Federal Government COVID-19 subsidy: Up to $21,000 or 50 per cent of an apprentice or trainee’s wage for nine months to maintain employment
  • Financial support for employers of adult apprentices 21 years and above
  • Commencement and completion incentives: $4,000 in staggered payments
    • Under National Skills Shortage Needs List: Additional incentives for HVAC&R
      businesses and apprentices
  • College fees subsidised for apprentices under 21 years
