Register now for the Federal Government $21,000 apprentice subsidy

2 April 2020

The Federal Government is offering a wage subsidy to employers of 50 per cent of an apprentice or trainee’s wage for nine months.

From today, 2 April 2020 employers can register for the subsidy with their Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider. Final claims for payment must be lodged by 31 December 2020.

The subsidy, of up to a maximum of $21,000, will be paid to employers over the period 1 January 2020 to 30 September 2020, equating to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter.

Funding will be available to businesses employing fewer than 20 full-time employees who retain an apprentice or trainee, or, where a small business is not able to retain an apprentice, the subsidy will be available to a new employer. To be eligible, the apprentice or trainee needed to be employed by the business on or before 1 March 2020.

Talk with your AASN (Australian Apprenticeship Support Network) provider or your GTO (Group Training Provider) to learn more.
