NT Procurement Reforms – Cutting Red Tape

As of 1 October 2025, the Northern Territory Government implemented procurement reforms aimed at making it easier for local businesses to work with government.

 Key changes include:

  • Increased purchasing tiers: Tier 1 (to $50,000) and Tier 2 (to $200,000).
  • Streamlined direct purchasing from Territory enterprises for low-risk, readily available and commonly used goods and services.
  • Appointment of a Territory Procurement Champion to support local businesses and resolve complaints.

These reforms are intended to reduce delays, improve efficiency, and increase local business participation in government contracts.
