The Federal Government is offering targeted financial support to businesses who hire individuals that have struggled with long term unemployment through the Real Jobs, Real Wages Pilot program.
Eligible employers may be able to access the following support:
- Employer Support – up to $15,000
Available to employers who hire an eligible employee into a permanent part-time or full-time role. Funding is designed to:- Offset labour costs
- Reduce onboarding and training expenses
- Support workforce growth
- Wage Subsidy – up to $10,000 (based on ordinary hours worked):
- $10,000 for employees working 20 hours or more per week
- $7,000 for employees working less than 20 hours per week
- Secure Work Payment – up to $5,000
Payable where an employee remains in a permanent role after 12 months:- $5,000 for employees working 20 hours or more per week
- $3,000 for employees working less than 20 hours per week
Additional support is also available to employers, including assistance to:
- Design roles that support inclusive recruitment
- Connect with suitable candidates nationwide
- Navigate relevant government services and programs
- Access pre-employment and commencement support
- Identify financial assistance for wages and other hiring costs
- Receive up to 12 months of post-employment support to improve retention
