Supporting apprentices and supervisors in plumbing and electrical trades

Build stronger workplace connections, access practical resources and share your experiences. Retention Through Connection supports eligible Queensland plumbing and electrical apprentices and supervisors to connect, learn from one another and strengthen workplace relationships.

Free for eligible apprentices and supervisors.

Support as you learn your trade

An apprenticeship brings opportunities, responsibilities and new experiences. Retention Through Connection gives apprentices opportunities to connect with others in their industry, share their experiences and access practical information and support pathways.

Practical resources for supervisors

Supervisors play an important role in apprentice development. The program offers opportunities to explore ways to support apprentices, strengthen communication and build a positive workplace culture. You can also connect with other supervisors and share ideas about common workplace challenges.

What is involved?

Participants will have access to:

  • An online platform with targeted practical resources and support
  • Short digital check ins to share workplace experiences
  • Opportunities to participate in facilitated online group sessions
  • Industry connections and shared learning

Combined and deidentified participant insights will help identify emerging challenges, guide relevant resources for participants and inform improvements to apprentice support, supervision and workplace practices. Participant information required for Department reporting will be handled as explained in the privacy notice.

Information for employers

Encourage your apprentices and supervisors to get involved. The program can complement your existing workplace support by providing practical resources, opportunities for connection and ways for participants to share their experiences.

Participation is voluntary. Apprentices can participate without their employer or supervisor joining the program.

Who can participate?

The program is seeking eligible plumbing and electrical apprentices and supervisors living and working in Queensland. Eligibility will be confirmed as part of the registration process. Employees of government departments, government agencies and local councils are not eligible.
