Building Commission NSW CPI-Indexed Fee Increases
Building Commission NSW fees will increase by approximately 4.4% from 1 July 2026, in line with inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
These annual adjustments are part of an automatic indexation process to ensure fees keep pace with inflation and remain consistent and predictable for industry, supporting better planning and cost transparency.
Updated fees for licenses, registrations and related services will be published on the Building Commission NSW website from 1 July 2026, including:
- Contractor licences, supervision and tradesperson certificates
- Design and building practitioner registrations
- Building and development certifiers
- Building work levy
- Plumbing and drainage inspection fees
- Electrical gas approvals
Licence holders should review the updated fees as the changes may affect the cost of upcoming applications and renewals.

ESV COES and Licence Fee Changes 2026-27
Each financial year, the Department of Treasury and Finance establishes the base fee unit for Energy Safe Victoria’s electrical licence and Certificates of Electrical Safety (COES) fees. For 2026–27 there will be an increase to fees starting 1 July 2026.

New Notice to Market for 2026–27
The Notice to Market for retailers, installers and manufacturers to support delivery of the Solar Homes Program in 2026–27 is now available. It includes two new mandatory requirements which come into effect 1 July.
The two new mandatory requirements cover safety and cyber security and reflect recently introduced industry-wide standards and regulations.
