Shape the Future of Our Industry – Nominate for the MEA Queensland Council

Nominations open at midday 26 June 2025 for the Master Electricians Australia Queensland Council (being the Council of the Master Electricians Association Queensland Industrial Organisation of Employers (MEAQ)).

We’re calling on passionate Queensland members to help guide the future of our organisation and the broader electrical industry. This is your chance to influence the direction of the peak industry body for electrical contractors in Queensland.

Council members play a vital role in guiding MEAQ’s strategic vision, influencing policy, and contributing to the future of the electrical contracting industry. Tenure is for two years, and your voice will help shape initiatives that support thousands of contractors across Queensland.

Who we’re looking for
You don’t have to be a licensed electrician, but you must be employed by a business that is a current financial member of MEAQ. We welcome nominations from across the industry, including those in leadership, admin, operations, and management roles.

The MEAQ Council will consist of the President, Immediate Past President, 2 Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and 5 ordinary Councillors. Our rules require that at least one Council member must be a holder of a Security Firm Class 2 licence under the Security Providers Act 1993 (Qld), and at least one must be a representative from Regional Queensland.

We are also particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

  • Information Technology
  • Product Development
  • Finance or Financial Control

We’re seeking diverse voices and fresh thinking to help ensure our leadership reflects the full spectrum of our industry.

Voting
Should nominations go to a ballot, voting will take place between Thursday, 7 August 2025 and midday on Thursday, 11 September 2025. Only those who have been financial members for more than 30 days prior to the opening of nominations will be eligible to vote. The ballot will be conducted using a first-past-the-post voting system.

Why nominate?

Serving on the MEAQ Council is an opportunity to:

  • Represent your region and peers
  • Bring your insights and skills to the table
  • Contribute to meaningful change in safety, quality, and professionalism

If you’re passionate about the future of the electrical industry, and ready to commit time and insight to a leadership role, we want to hear from you!
