The WA Government has released its 2026–27 Budget, with continued investment in workforce development, training, small business support and electricity infrastructure.  

It continues investment in areas important to the sector and builds on the substantial funding and support already being directed towards workforce development, electrification and industry across WA. 

Key budget investments include:  

Workforce Development 

  1. $19.6 million for an additional 330 places under the GTO Wage Subsidy Program (includes a further 50 places specifically for women wanting to work in electrical trades) 
  2. $13.1 million additional funds to support an extra 1,100 places under the Construction Visa Subsidy Program and Build a Life in WA incentive. 
  3. $18.7 million extension to Fee-Free TAFE into 2027 offering support for training new construction workers including electricians. 
  4. $24 million to expand Munster TAFE to provide facilities to support the delivery of training for renewables industries, including wind energy, battery technology, and electrification 
  5. $10 million to continue WorkSafe's Mental Awareness Respect and Safety Program, (includes initiatives focused on creating safer workplaces for women). 

Small Business Support 

  1. $33.1 million towards the nationally coordinated fuel excise cut; saving 32 cents per litre on fuel for three months. 
  2. $1.4 million for a second round of the Small Business Growth Grants Program. 

Industry 

  1. $973 million investment to expand Western Power's network and increase electricity capacity for industrial and residential developments.
