From 1 October 2026, the Federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) will expand to provide incentives for eligible solar systems up to 1MW. In response, SA Power Networks (SAPN) is accelerating work to simplify connections for medium embedded generation (MEG) solar systems between 31kVA and 500kVA.

From early 2027, SAPN plans to introduce a new MEG connection offering providing a choice between zero export or Flexible Exports – the latter will require CSIP-AUS capable equipment, which for many systems between 200kVA and 500kVA is expected to remove the need for dedicated SCADA equipment and simplify connection requirements. Existing MEG connection requirements remain unchanged from 1 October.
