Effective from 1 September 2025

Solar Victoria has released updated requirements under the 2025–26 Notice to Market, which will affect manufacturers, retailers and installers participating in the Solar Homes Program. These changes take effect from 1 September 2025, and MEA encourages all members working in the solar and hot water sectors to prepare accordingly.

Key Updates from 1 September

1. Five-year product and labour warranty
The existing five-year minimum product warranty requirement is being extended to include labour.
Manufacturers must review and, if necessary, update their warranty documentation to ensure continued product eligibility under the Solar Homes Program.

2. Training for new plumbers installing heat pump hot water systems
All new plumbers who wish to participate in the program will be required to complete relevant training in the design and installation of heat pump hot water systems.

These changes aim to strengthen customer protections and support long-term quality across the industry.
